I worked at Southern Arizona VA Health Care System full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The benefits and pay are better than any other hospital in Tucson by far. It's basically impossible to be fired from this hospital and they give you automatic raises every two years.

    Cons

Nurses and CNAs are severely understaffed. The morale in the hospital is extremely low because of this and there is a high level of turn over in management.

    Application Details

I applied online – interviewed at Southern Arizona VA Health Care System.

    Interview Details

Applied on USA jobs.gov website and was scheduled for an interview appx 3 weeks later. Interview started with a tour of the unit and then went into a panel format with four persons asking questions. Interview took appx 2hours and i was told i would hear something by end of following week one way or another. I waited almost five weeks and left several messages with HR to provide hiring status. I was notified by email that another candidate was chosen and the other candidates (myself included) are not usually notified about this until the chosen candidate passes her drug screen and all preemployment requirements. Thus could take several weeks to months. The other candidates are expected to wait in the interim, as if anything goes wrong in preemployment process they might be called as second choice.
