    Pros

Spectra has a great culture. The CEO knows everyone's name, work hours are flexible, hierarchy is pretty flat. Pinball machines are available to be played at any time. Spectra invests a lot into their employees and individuals can have a large impact in the company. Spectra focusses on promoting from within. Spectra has been around for 35 years and doesn't seem to be going anywhere. Stable company that knows its place in the industry and how to stick around. Spectra seems aware of its problems and are aggressively tackling them, with recent re-organization at the upper levels of the company. If you don't mind being underpaid, it really is a great place to work.

    Cons

Spectra is a cheap company. Compensation and benefits are bad (especially compared to other Software Engineering companies). Teams are all understaffed and getting by with what they have.

    Advice to Management

If you want to get and keep top engineering talent, then you need to pay more and provide better benefits.

    Interview

The initial interview with the specialist was pretty simple. The on-site interview was tough. The managers part of the on-site interview was pretty simple with a laid back feeling. They made you already feel like a part of the team. Be prepared for a quick exam after all the interview portions.
