I have been working at State of Arizona (More than a year)

    Pros

The benefits are very good and the job is very secure. For the most part the work environment is quite relaxed. Since the salaries are low, it is a very easy way to get work experience out of college.

    Cons

Pay with the State of Arizona is far below that in other sectors of the Phoenix economy, including county and city jobs. Raises are incredibly rare, one coworker went five years without one before leaving the state for a better opportunity.

    Advice to Management

The State of Arizona loses a ton of talent due to the low salaries and lack of raises. Many people in different departments have noticed and told me that the state is a training ground for new graduates who will leave as soon as they have the experience for a decent paying position.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at State of Arizona (Phoenix, AZ).

    Interview

Interview took place by phone. Had several phone interviews which was to my advantage I think. The supervisor asked good technical questions and asked me if I was ok giving a notice of violation for a company I had worked for. I did not meet the supervisor until I showed up for my first day at work and even then I reported for orientation training and did not meet the supervisor until after that. It was the best hiring experience I have ever had: I was hired without any sort of predjudice caused by my appearance.

    Interview Questions

    • As I said above "Would you be ok giving a former employer a notice of violation?"   1 Answer
