I worked at Technica full-time (more than an year)

Technica is a small company that gives employees great opportunities to contribute and excel. The culture at HQ provides a relaxed, professional environment. There is initially some micro-managing, but that is really done to ensure new employees are on tract and are not experiencing any roadblocks. The firm likes to promote from within and regularly has challenging projects, both internal and client billable.

Fulltime onsite consultants receive excellent support services from HQ (program management, graphics, HR, etc), although it is more difficult to feel part of the bigger Techncia team when on client site 40+ hours/week. Matrixed management is difficult if staff and manager are not at the same location on a regular basis and/or are not working on similar projects.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus some internal resources on a few near term tactical client projects rather than longer term strategic efforts. Consider assigning junior HQ non-billable programming resources to directly support an onsite EGM. Resource can then be learning about the client, their needs and be contributing to the overall team. After some time they should then be able to immediately add value to the client in a billable position supporting the EGM.

    Interview Details

Contacted by a recruiter and put through a single-round of in-person interviews by HR and an Engineering Manager. The position was dependent on passing nine internal technical tests (in 2008). This is no longer a part of the hiring process.
