I have been working at The Housing Authority of the City of Lakeland full-time

    Pros

    - Benefits (very generous time off)
    - Not everyone can say this but at least my supervisor allows me a lot of autonomy.

    Cons

    - Salary is low and I haven't had a raise in over two years even though my evaluations have been solid.
    - New leadership doesn't communicate very well. Most employees have no idea what is going on with the organization.
    - How some people get hired for positions is quite interesting as well as the salary some make versus others.
    - Very bureaucratic; for an organization with only 50-60 employees, it feels so much bigger unnecessarily.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I don't have any advice because management doesn't seem to listen to employees.

    Application Details

I applied in-person. The process took 2+ monthsinterviewed at The Housing Authority of the City of Lakeland in February 2010.

    Interview Details

The interview was very standard. Basic interview questions were asked; nothing out of the normal. The main problem for me was that I believe they had already made a decision prior to my interview. I had one person who actually slept throughout the interview. It was hard to believe as I have never experienced such a thing. The other two interviewers were professional and engaged during the process.
