I worked at The Salem Group full-time for more than 3 yearsPros
Salem was a fun company to work for. Staffing, in general, is a fast-paced business, and you meet all types of people --- all with different backgrounds and unique personalities. It was impossible to get bored! Salem's overall approach to client service was really refreshing, and as a Staffing Coordinator, I was encouraged to do more than just recruit. I was able to build relationships with our clients, as well as our candidates. It was great to do more than just sit behind a desk.Cons
Staffing is definitely not a predictable business. We were expected to meet specific activity levels and benchmarks each day (specific numbers of interviews, phone calls, new hires, etc.), which makes a lot of sense, but probably isn't for everyone. Ultimately, I made the decision to pursue an HR role outside of the staffing industry, as it was more in line with what I was seeking, career-wise. That said, Salem equips its teams well to deal day-to-day demands and challenges.Advice to ManagementAdvice
During my time at Salem, the company began making increased investments in its technology. I've been away from Salem for a couple of years now, but I still talk to many people there, and I understand that since I left, those investments have increased even more. I'd definitely encourage management to keep making those investments in technology so that you stay cutting edge.RecommendsPositive OutlookApproves of CEO

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6 days - interviewed at The Salem Group in August 2012.Interview Details
Salem found my resume on CareerBuilder and contacted me for a phone interview first. After the phone interview I had a single interview in the corporate office where I met with everyone (my boss, who I would be working with, and one of the owners). Everyone was easy to talk to and relaxed. It more just felt like meeting new people rather then an interview. I had another offer on the table so I let Salem know that I needed an answer quickly as too if I was going to be taking next steps. I heard back from them within the HOUR!Interview Questions
Negotiation DetailsThe negotiation was easy because I really wanted the job! They made the offer within the salary range that I had requested so it was an easy 'YES!"Accepted OfferPositive ExperienceEasy Interview
- I am really not sure. I can't remember being stumped by anything I was asked. Like I said before, it was more just meeting everyone. Answer Question
