I have been working at Things Remembered full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Sharing special and occasionally tragic events with customers probably makes for the most satisfying parts of the job. Full timers get 401-k, health, vision, dental, life, and disability insurance, plus PTO and in PA, hourly wages (which means overtime). $.50/hr worked bonus when your store makes plan, and SMs get 3% of profits.

    Cons

Supply chain management is a hot mess. New products come out and there's a big marketing push for them, but we don't get them in stock until weeks or even months later. Signage doesn't show up when they say it will. The new president is trying all sorts of new ideas to drum up business, which is better than keeping things stagnant, but it leads to confusion and there's a serious lack of communication from corporate.

    Advice to Management

Move pricing to be more in line with online competitors. Add more double coverage at the lower volume stores. Come up with a more compelling bonus program.

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Things Remembered (Lakewood, CA).

    Interview

It was quick and easy. She asked me a few questions and called me back the very next day with an offer. We were in the middle of the mall and she read off of a paper with questions on it. She loved my responses and we got along great. I got the interview because I knew the assistant store manager and she got me an interview with the main manager.
