    Pros

Good people. Solid benefits. CEO who cares about the company and the people that work there. You feel comfortable knowing that you are not going to get laid off at the drop of the hat or to satisfy shareholders. If you bring new ideas to the table generally are going to be well received ( maybe slow to implement but open to the ideas). Strong value system that is part of how business decisions are made. Customers are the focus. We have fun at work. Very good work/life balance.

    Cons

Some of the associates need to open their minds to change. It is not 1980 anymore. Some have a sense of entitlement and have a warped interpretation of the value system. Not a ton of growth opportunity because of company size but if you are good the opportunities will appear. Some old ways of thinking with time card management with exempt staff. Sometimes slow to remove poor performers including some of those in management positions.

    Advice to Management

Continue to live the value system. Allow for quicker reallocation of poor performers. While it is good to try strive to an everyone is equal philosophy there are different expectations for professional staff and different time commitments, allow for some flexibility with that. Overall though, keep doing what you are doing.

    Application

I applied online – interviewed at Third Federal Savings and Loan Association (Cleveland, OH) in June 2015.

    Interview

3 regional managers and a hr person in the room with me. The hr person asked and responded to 95% of the questions asked and answered. One of the regional managers never asked a single question. It was awkward having the hr person ask a question but feeling like I should look at the regional managers when answering. I was not thrilled with being told i would be in training for 1 1/2 to 2 years for the same position I've been doing at another bank for years.
