I worked at TriTech Software Systems full-time (Less than a year)
Tritech bought a competitor company that I worked for. Our new CEO et al. explained in a company-wide teleconference about the purchase and was up front about the fact that the product I was working on was getting phased out. They gave us a specific timeline for when layoffs would be announced (about a month) and stuck to it.
As mentioned above this was a takeover, and I was only around for 1 month so I can't really say much about working with Tritech. However, although Tritech was upfront about what was happening and how they would handle it, I do believe they alienated the top engineers and ended up losing them as a result.
Advice to Management
You lost some essential people in this purchase. It didn't necessarily have to be that way. When you explain the takeover to your new employees, don't say anything negative about the product you are discontinuing... just that you've decided to go with your existing product. Then roll out the red carpet for the engineering group and work to transition them to your business so they (especially your top engineers) don't start leaving within a couple of months.

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at TriTech Software Systems (Hillsboro, OR) in June 2014.
This applies to the interviewing process for Tiburon, a subsidiary of Tritech. I was interviewed by the Programming Manager and 2 tech leads. We sat in an office and they asked me some basic C questions. It wasn't too in depth since this was an entry level position, and apparently a lot guys out of school these days don't know the C programming language. Tiburon is more interested in whether you'd be a good fit and do you have basic knowledge of C.
- In the C programming language what character terminates a string? 1 Answer
There was no negotiation. Beggars can't be choosers.
