I have been working at Trillium Trading full-time (less than an year)Pros
Trillium, to me at least, does not feel like work. This is not to say that working here is a walk in the park, because it is very difficult to make money as a young trader. But everyone who still works here knows that it is difficult and is willing to help you as older traders once helped them. If you are genuinely passionate about the stock market and are willing to put in the time early on in your career, the reward can be extremely lucrative. I enjoy coming into work each morning because everyday is different.
The trainer/trainee program is one of the best parts about Trillium. It allows me to view the market through someone else's eyes and emulate their trading style. Eventually, I will have my own style but until then, it is extremely helpful to sit next to a successful trader and talk about trades all day long and why some are better than others, when to stay out of the market, etc, etc, etc.
The environment is very laid back. Once you become profitable, you are essentially living the American dream. You can wear what you want to work, and live whatever lifestyle you are trying to live because you have complete control over your income. Trillium is a true meritocracy. Mostly everyone who works here is willing to give advice to trainees--Trillium has definitely held on to their entrepreneurial spirit that they created in the 90s.Cons
I really can't think about a con at Trillium. The only con is the fact that the market is very challenging, but that is a fundamental statement about the market, not Trillium.Advice to ManagementAdvice
I haven't worked here long enough to have advice to give to management.RecommendsPositive OutlookApproves of CEO
Getting an Interview
Getting an Interview
- Application Details
I applied online. The process took 4+ weeks – interviewed at Trillium Trading.Interview Details
I applied by emailing the firm directly through the email they provide on their website. I come from a non-target school for most financial firms but they recruit at my school anyway. I was contacted very quickly by email and set up a 1 on 1 interview on campus. A week after the on campus interview they contacted me for final round interviews at their New York office, however I turned them down due to getting offers at more established proprietary trading firms in Chicago.Interview Questions
Reasons for Declining
- Nothing too hard...paper math test that you should be able to get 100% correct. It had expected value and arithmetic questions and you were given 2 minutes. Answer Question
