I have been working at Trillium Trading full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Amazing resources to learn from stemming from high performing trading mentors, and truly cutting edge technology(built in house from in house ideas and innovation). The culture invites new (and old) traders to engage and learn from most anyone in the company. Well organized and detailed training program. Compensation is very competitive and promotes/rewards strong work ethic and perfomance. Perks are great (which includes a golf club membership in NJ). There are many top traders to work with, learn from, and advance with in all locations. The office spaces are very comfortable and inviting for a working environment. NY is the biggest office by far, with Miami being second in size, and a small office in Princeton. There is also a Chicago office slated to open in 2015. The company is also very well funded, never asks anyone to bring in their own money or put up deposits, provides a salary/draw, provides full funding for all of its traders, and is very well established and reliable as an employer. Definitley a top notch company for anyone looking to be a full time trader in the short term equities markets. Work-life balance is good, but a trader here needs to be mindful that a winning trade can't be made if that trader is on vacation.

    Cons

The learning curve is challenging. However, those who work hard and achieve success through the curve do well to very well in bonus checks. You must be strong minded and thick skinned to survive/thrive as a trader. It's typical to deal more with losing in trades for quite some time before gaining consistency and profitability. The job is known to be more of a mental battle in the early stages than anything else. Be ready to put your time in. Don't expect to get rich quick. This is not that kind of job. It can definitley be a career, but you have to be smart, sharp, quick, and have a deep passion/drive to want to stay on top of your game and succeed. Personal growth is limited to trading success and mentoring/training. It's not necessarily a con, but don't come to Trillium to trade and think one day you can run the company. Growth (although very real and good) is generally limited to the trading side of the business. That said, there is no cap on how much P & L a trader can make.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to listen to the trading floors. Traders are motivated to make money! Granted there is alot of noise and nonsense if you listen to everything. But in that noise there is some solid advice/suggestions which can continue the growth and success for Trillium's traders and company as a whole if properly acted on/implemented. Like I said, the best of advice is to continue to listen and react accordingly. It has worked very well to date and will keep you in touch with what is most important as time goes on.

    Application Details

I applied through college or university. The process took 1+ weekinterviewed at Trillium Trading in October 2014.

    Interview Details

I applied online through my university, was contacted via email for an initial phone screen fairly shortly afterward. The phone screen went fairly well, with a few expository "soft" questions followed by a couple of probability questions and then two logic brainteasers. Interviewer was pretty friendly, however I had already seen both of the brainteasers that were asked, so it was somewhat awkward that I gave the correct answer and the reasoning behind it pretty much immediately, while I think they'd rather see you struggle a little bit and figure it out on your own. Waiting to hear back in the next few days.
