I have been working at UC Irvine full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Best environment I've ever worked in. The university makes sure that employees are treated fairly and respectfully. There is an entire infrastructure to support and foster those principles. Being that the UC system is so large, there are many opportunities to advance or make changes. Benefits are incredibly generous and vacation, sick time and paid holidays are plenfiful.

    Cons

Because of the stability and difficulty with firing under performers, there can be a tendency for complacent attitudes. People who embrace change and emerging technology will find themselves with challenges.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Administrators need to be more diligent in discipling babd employees instead of spending years trying to 'rehab' them. Take off the kid gloves and don't be afraid to get rid of the legacy problems like a corporation would.

It was an interesting process. It depends on which department you are interviews for, but most of the questions were to fit and experience questions. The office environment seemed very upbeat and everyone seemed to genuinely be good colleagues .
