UCLA makes medical coverage as accessible and affordable as possible. All of our medical plans, without exception, offer high quality, comprehensive coverage for your medical, pharmacy and mental health needs.

Who’s covered? We cover eligible staff and your family, including your spouse, domestic partner and/or children to age 26. There are no exclusions for pre-existing conditions.

Our health plan options include Kaiser (Medical HMO), HealthNet (Medical HMO), Core Major Medical (Medical Fee-for-Service), Blue Cross Plus (Medical Fee-for-Service), Blue Cross PPO (Medical Preferred Provider Org), Blue Cross Lumenos (HRA PPO), DeltaCare USA (Dental), Delta Dental PPO (Dental Fee-for-Service), and Vision Service Plan.​​​

Pension Program
UCRP is a traditional pension program that provides eligible retirees with a predictable level of retirement income. Actual benefits are based on your age, salary, and years of UC service.

Retirement Savings Programs

Our savings programs include a university-sponsored, defined contribution pre-tax program (401a), tax deferred (403b) and 457(b) plans, and other after-tax savings plans.You may contribute to the 403b or 457b plans or both at the same time.

Our goal is to create a comprehensive safety net to protect our employees from loss of wages due to disability. To achieve this, we offer the following benefits, in conjunction with state-mandated Workers’ Compensation and Social Security disability benefits.

Life Insurance
Basic life insurance is provided at no cost for most employees. You can choose to enroll in optional supplemental life insurance for which you pay the premium.

Disability Insurance
UC paid disability insurance is provided at no cost for most employees. You can choose to enroll in optional supplemental disability insurance for which you pay the premium.

Accidental Death and Dismemberment
For a small monthly premium, you may enroll in AD&D coverage.

Auto/Renter/Homeowner Insurance
You will have access to group rates for auto, renter and homeowners insurance through California Casualty. Premiums can be paid through payroll deduction.


Business Travel Accident Insurance

When traveling on official UCLA business you will be covered worldwide, 24 hours a day, for a wide variety of accidents and incidents while away from the workplace.

​​Family Care​​

UCLA Health System offers a variety of childcare and eldercare resources.

We care for everyone that’s in your care.​​​​​​

We look out for your family, because they’re part of ours. We provide on-site childcare facilities, as well as referral services for both childcare and eldercare. We also have a lending library of audio presentations that address family needs.

Our childcare resources include the UCLA Westwood Child Care Center, UCLA Early Care and Education, ECE Center-based Services, and Preschool Pathways to Science.

For eligible staff, UC provides membership to a web-based resource to help you find and select childcare, eldercare and other family care providers.​​​

All employees are encouraged to get screened, complete a health assessment and take action by enrolling in UCLA Health Wellness Initiative programs, workshops and events that support your action plan.​​​

Time Off​​

Make the most of life outside of work.

We believe that what inspires you in life brings inspiration to the work you do. Because of that, we are pleased to offer employees generous paid time off so that you can pursue your passions and enjoy life to its fullest.

Our full-time employees earn an average of three weeks per year, and the rate of earning increases, based upon your years of University and/or State of California service (to a maximum of 5 weeks per year). Employees also earn an average of twelve sick days per year, which may be accumulated indefinitely. UCLA observes thirteen holidays per year.
