I have been working at UPS Freight full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Highest paid in the LTL industry. Good retirement plan. And excellent health benefits for a very low price. Vacation time increases with your seniority.

    Cons

Very high expectations. Often is given threats is an expectation isn't met to the letter. If fired you are off work for several weeks while the union gets your job back. No back pay is given for the time off.

    Application Details

I applied online. The process took 5 days - interviewed at UPS Freight in September 2014.

    Interview Details

Arrived 10 minutes early to interview, the manager I was supposed to meet with was called into an emergency meeting (it happens) so I was interviewed by an on call supervisor. As far as interviews go, this one was very laid back and comfortable, he took a few moments to review my resume so he was up to speed with my experience. Once he was familiar with my work history he asked me to elaborate on my customer service experience, mainly on call volume and how I resolved issues with customers. When asked if I had any questions for him I inquired when the hiring decision was expected to be made and when they would like the new hire to start. The interview lasted about 10 minutes give or take.

(LTL carriers consolidate freight from multiple shippers into a single truckload.) UPS Freight operates a fleet of about 6,700 tractors and 22,100 trailers from a network of more than 200 terminals. In addition to for-hire LTL and truckload freight services, UPS Freight offers dedicated contract carriage, in which drivers and... More
