At URS, employees can participate in benefit plans that provide choice and flexibility. Recognizing individual and family needs can vary greatly, our plans and programs are built to accommodate our diverse employee population.

We offer a comprehensive benefits package, the specifics of which may vary depending where our employees are based or if they are covered by collective bargaining agreements. In addition to a number of optional programs, employees are eligible to enroll in one of several health care plans—including a health savings account—and insurance protection. Our 401(k) Plan offers a Company match/contribution and a variety of investment options.

Medical, Dental, and Vision Plans

Our plans cover medical services and prescription drugs and are designed to protect employees from financial difficulties should an illness or injury occur. Preventive care and wellness programs are key components of all our plans. To help our employees and their families maintain good dental health, our dental plans promote preventive care, and when treatment is needed, cover a broad range of services. Optional vision coverage includes exams and prescription eyewear.

Retirement Savings

Employees throughout URS understand the powerful impact collaboration and inspiration can have on a worksite, in our communities, and the world. On an individual level, and in partnership with office and regional coworkers, our people strive to be engaged and active citizens through the giving of their time, donations, and expertise.

Through a program called the Millennium Project, URS volunteers are funding and helping to build a sand dam to assure a stable, clean water supply for up to 10,000 people in Kenya. As well as the costs of constructing the dam itself, our donation includes provision of the training, tools, and materials to support a community in planting trees, terracing land, and running a demonstration farm and seed bank program for a year. Our volunteers also are helping in the construction of a classroom block and latrine system at a school in a remote part of Ethiopia to reduce crowding and provide local children with the opportunity to receive an education.

In Latin America, URS employees working through Engineers Without Borders are improving and enriching the lives of local families. In El Salvador, URS employees are helping to improve sanitation by building composting latrines for the more than 1,700 people who live in the village of El Zapote, and in the United States, more than 900 employees recently participated in an inaugural URS Day of Service. Approximately 3,800 volunteer hours were contributed on that day on behalf of 46 projects across the country, including homeless shelters, cleanup efforts, and Habitat for Humanity projects.

As a corporate citizen, URS is a proud sponsor of American Corporate Partners, which matches current and former members of the U.S. military and their immediate families with corporate mentors. Our company was one of the first 10 firms to support this cause, and our staff provide veterans with mentoring, career counseling, and networking support to help them transition from the armed services to the civilian workforce.

    I have been working at URS full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Training, mentoring, interesting work, busy/never bored, friendly coworkers, provide necessary tools to do my job, good benefits and salary. fun workplace activities (i.e picnic, employee appreciation breakfast, ice cream socials, etc). Great safety program.

    Cons

    poor cross-divisional communication, this might be a con to company overall size

    I applied through other source. The process took 2 weeks - interviewed at URS.

    Interview Details

    Two step process with current employees. I felt as if they already knew who they wanted but were going through the steps to make it seem fair. The interview went well, I felt very positive, received both the one on one interview and the panel interview, yet did not receive the job. Asked later for pointers on how to improve interview next or for feedback that would help me to avoid any danger areas that I may have stumbled into, never received follow-up.
