Unit4 is in business for people.
Our vision is to deliver self-driving enterprise applications through our unique design approach that empowers people in services and government organizations around the world. We are supporting a new generation of workers to work smarter, faster and more collectively than ever before. The Unit4 People Platform serves as the foundation for the Unit4 suite of products and brings enterprise applications and ERP into the digital age through advances in social, mobile, analytics and cloud technology. We are moving towards self-driving, intelligent enterprise applications designed specifically for services organizations and their people.
We have a mission. We no longer accept the digital downgrade that workers experience when they swap their personal devices for their work ones. We want business software that work the way people want, not the other way around. So that’s what we build. And what you can build.
Life at Unit4
Unit4 purpose is to empower customers to realize their full potential. We do this by developing, selling, implementing and supporting solutions on the platform of our core products Agresso and Coda Financials.
All these accolades are great but that’s not why we strive to be ‘Employer of the Year’ day in and day out – we do it because we know our competitive advantage lies in the performance of our staff. Here at Unit4, we cultivate a challenging yet relaxed work atmosphere, where people get satisfaction from doing great work under equally great working conditions. We respect each other and our customers, and we respect the principles of work/life balance.
Around the world, we look for potential employees - who are confident team players and have an unswerving commitment to excellence in customer service - to help us in our mission to deliver software products and services that enable our customers to cope easily and cost-effectively with changing business needs and operating environments.
- have a CAN-DO ATTITUDE: Positive, self-starters who rise to the challenge and take personal responsibility for solutions and results
- have CUSTOMER EMPATHY: Delivering relevant value to customers by listening, understanding and reflecting back what is heard and providing solutions.
- are HUMBLE: Respectfully collaborating in the best interest of the customer, company, team and self.
Creating a Great Place to Work
It’s a great feeling to enjoy coming to work knowing that you will be continually challenged and yet still have the time to laugh and interact positively with your colleagues. We have created a fun atmosphere without the typical role-based barriers you would expect in a rapidly growing organization – everyone at all levels of the company, from the newest hires to the CEO, can be found swapping stories in the kitchen on any given day.
Providing a Flexible Lifestyle
A career is only one dimension of life, which is why we strive to provide a workplace that can adapt to peoples’ lifestyles and life stages. A flexible and casual work environment is encouraged, providing our employees with the opportunity to create a work schedule that allow them to balance both work and life. This can make a difference in people's ability to manage child care or to reach their customers in different time zones, creating a win-win for everyone.
We aim to be a good employer. Our objectives for achieving this are to:
- Operate clear and fair terms of employment and remuneration policies.
- Avoid discrimination in our recruitment, staff training, development and promotion policies.
- Nurture the enthusiasm and commitment of staff, encouraging an open culture where staff can question management and propose ideas.
- Enhance the performance of management and staff through ongoing training, skills and knowledge development.
- Ensure a safe, pleasant working environment for employees.

I have been working at Unit4 full-time (More than a year)
A great company with a strong management team and a very promising future. I joined about a year ago because I saw the potential to be part of something big, and the opportunity to contribute in a significant way. I work with industry analysts and they are quite bullish on the company’s management team and future prospects. What analysts firms like Gartner now say about Unit4 is: “…we are now looking at an edgier, more calculating and aggressive Unit4,” “Unit4 has truly transformed itself into a new company, one that is energized, fresh, innovative, confident and aggressive”.
The company has gone through a radical transformation and some long-standing employees find the changes difficult. There have been a lot of layoffs, which puts a damper on morale. Luckily, the hard stuff is behind us and things are on a positive trajectory.
Advice to Management
Communicate a clear and compelling vision for where the company is headed. Give people an emotional connection to fully engage hearts and minds.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at Unit4 (Irving, TX) in May 2009.
Had an initial phone interview with the hiring manager and HR Manager. They are both in the North America office in Victoria, Canada. An in-person interview was then scheduled several weeks later in their office in Irving, TX. I was provided with "homework" which consisted of putting together a presentation on specific project management topics, plus bring samples of project plans and project documentation. The interview/ presentation was conducted by hiring manager, HR manager, plus two other managers. There was a lot of good discussion during the interview process. While the presentation was a lot of work for the interview I think it is very important since this job is a customer-facing position.
