I worked at United States House of Representatives as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Great experience being in the middle of the United states government day in and day out. Learned alot about the legislative process and how our elected representatives work for constituents.

    Cons

Wish they would have gave interns a little more responsibility, tasks became repetitive after a while. Got boring when Congress wasn't in session and not much to do.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give interns a little more freedom and responsibility to help out more around office, and don't have as many interns when Congress isn't in session.

I was referred by a mentor to a Chief of Staff. I was called in and interviewed in mid December. I did not hear anything from the office until March. Some offices take awhile to get back to you, whereas some don't. .. it just depends on how soon they want the position filled; how much money they have left in their account( i e do they have to wait until the start of the new year when their coffer fills up again) and how busy they are.

    Interview Questions
    • I was asked questions that one would expect. Do your homework on the district and the Representative. You would be surprised how many people don't.   Answer Question
