  • The company was good to work for with great benefits and matched 401k. It was a good way to cut my teeth as a generalist

    Pros

Some great people that work really hard, great benefits, generally a secure job. A lot of opportunity for advancement in every trade that Univar offers.

    Cons

Everybody is a drop in the bucket. This is a very corporate atmosphere, which is nice if you aren't a good employee. Very good employees sometimes aren't given full credit for their work since it is such a "team game" (by design).

    Advice to Management

Sometimes the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. At one point, one direction from management was to increase sales Lbs and the other was to increase margin. This is very difficult to accomplish.

    Application

I applied through an employee referral – interviewed at Univar in April 2015.

    Interview

Received a phone call by HR and was asked a couple of questions about myself.
Here is the odd part, at the end of our conversation this guy told me that he will have to get back to me as he needs to get some more information about the open position. I would expect and advise that you would/should do that prior to an interview. Of course he never called back which leads me to the conclusion that I might have not been what they are looking for, which is okay, but this was just odd, very unprofessional and childish.
