I have been working at University of Maryland

    Pros

Great place to work, particularly if you enjoy being always surrounded by brilliant academics. Nice benefits package and a top notch IRA/ health insurance. Not too many responsibilities - loads of free time.

    Cons

Not many bad things to say here. Work can be a little dull sometimes.

    Interview Details

The normal interview process got simpler. It took months before call candidates for an interview because delay forming a search committee members. Now, upper manager can interview directly and will last only 2-3 steps. After resume review, qualifying candidates will receive a phone interview. Then, on-site interview will be available for possible candidates (around 4-5 candidate). Finally, top 3 choices will be presented to the department coordinator.

Overall UMD interview is not as difficult as any other private companies. UMD looks for a candidate with multiple talents with a minimum salary. However, UMD is a very good place to beginning of career.
