I have been working at University of New Mexico full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Excellent opportunities for moving up the ladder, promotion and title/rank. Understanding that teaching is the focus as well a working for the benefits of students. Great schedules, wonderful benefits.

    Cons

Previous administrative instability (seems to have gained stability), struggles teaching 5 courses per semester with large class sizes. Rural location two hours from major city and airport.

    Interview Details

Online posting and application process. All communication from the university, including request for interview and notification of hire/not hire are done very impersonally via email. Personal connections within the university are essential to be seriously considered for a position at this level.
