Former Employee - Work Study in Scranton, PA

I worked at University of Scranton part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Working in the Study Abroad Office allows you to share your international experiences with students that want to have their own. The staff is a great group of people, with amazing stories of their travels. Michael is a wonderful guy, a great boss, and creates a comfortable atmosphere for work.

    Cons

The only con working here was continually explaining how easy it is to study abroad, and professors telling students that they couldn't even though we have ways of sending students from every major to experience life abroad.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work, find ways to promote earlier in students' careers, especially nursing and exercise science.

    Application Details

I applied online. The process took 3 months - interviewed at University of Scranton in May 2011.

    Interview Details

They have an online system for applying. Now that I'm on the inside, I see that you really need to fill these forms out correctly. It isn't some automated process, it is the hiring manager reading word for word what you input. Be careful with the application website.

The on site interviews were long. I met for one on one for an hour with 3 of my peers, an hour with my boss and an hour with my bosses boss.

    Interview Questions
    • The questions weren't difficult. They were pretty standard. I would say University of Scranton lacks a certain level of professionalism when it comes to interview knowledge and skills.   Answer Question
