    Pros

Flexibility of time, some intelligent and forward-thinking colleagues, and good benefits. On top of that you have the possibility to shape you research agenda and travel internationally.

    Cons

Bureaucratic, political, with little support structure. People at the top set their own agenda but seldom ask junior or middle level staff about their opinions. It can also get quite an isolating place to work as there are no group activities. You end up staying in your office alone most of the times.

    Advice to Management

Try to widen decision making by allowing staff to participate. Organise more social activities that allow staff to interact with each other. For example, research seminar every week.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 1 dayinterviewed at University of Surrey (Guildford, England (UK)) in June 2013.

    Interview

I was contacted by email which was giving me the details of the interview. There was only one interview which was competency based and which was checking whether the person meets all of the competencies required by the university. The people in the engineering department are really friendly and the culture is flexible.

    Negotiation

I got an offer after I passed the interview and I accepted it by email.
