I worked at Valence Technology as a contractor (more than a year)

They treat there people very well. Good benefits. They have a break area where all the drinks and snacks were provided by the company. Management was very professional.

There were very few challenges. at times there seamed to be a bit of disconnection between manufacturing in China and engineering in the U.S.

    Electrical Engineer Interview

    Application Details

I applied online – interviewed at Valence Technology.

    Interview Details

I interviewed with the Engineering Manager. Standard interview questions and topics. Nothing surprising.

I did learn in the interview that they were in bankruptcy. Not sure if they are out yet. So there was risk there to assess.

The hired engineer will work with a team and will travel 10-20% to China. Phone calls will be required with the China team and these usually happen in the evenings.

The bankruptcy was a turn off because I think they have a product that could have a very good future.

A second interview with the engineering team was possible.

If you charged Valence Technology with battery, you'd be right. The company's rechargeable lithium polymer batteries are designed for use in industrial (forklifts), military (robotics), stationary (generators), and transportation-related (cars and boats) electrical power applications. Valence touts its U-Charge lithium iron magnesium phosphate (LiFeMgPO4) energy storage systems as having a longer life and being safer and more stable under extreme conditions than even lithium-ion batteries that use oxide-based cathode materials. The company's largest shareholder is real... More
