I have been working at Varec full-time (More than 5 years)RecommendsPositive OutlookRecommendsPositive Outlook
Management is great and coworkers are very helpful. Managers worked very hard over the past 2 years to get rid of those individuals who never should have been hired in the first place that were causing issues, and bringing the whole team down. Now that they are gone, there is a great team in place, fun environment to work, challenging and friendly competition. Management works hard to reward hard work with favorable schedules and time off. Plenty of room for advancement through the company. The Help Desk is an entry point to the company and Varec tends to hire from within ensuring the potential for a long term career. Worked around the world and this is definitely one of the best places I have been so far. POL family environment!
24/7/365 schedule but you are given time off and extra pay for working weekends and holidays.
Advice to Management
Keep it headed in the right direction! Much respect!
Getting an Interview
Getting an Interview
- Accepted OfferNegative ExperienceEasy Interview
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks – interviewed at Varec (Norcross, GA) in January 2010.
I applied online because it was under the SAIC brand so was excited about the potential opportunity. I received a call within 2 weeks for a phone screen by a recruiter. We then set-up an interview for the following week. I don't really remember being asked any challenging questions, but there were tons of red flags that were signs-had I known then. The manager pretty much violated a couple of HR codes, which most likely could have resulted in a lawsuit. Clearly he was inexperienced and so was I since I accepted the job knowing this guy should have not been a manager. He even contacted my past employers (who does that)? I expect that from HR.
- The manager flat out said that we they have benefits for domestic partnerships. The manager said that assuming I was in a domestic partnership..lol. 1 Answer
Well, being young and naive I accepted the role without negotiating.
