Co-workers are mostly sociable, and direct management works with you on project issues, even if they are problematic. Overall a fun place to work.
Top management is distant from rank and file, not much communication. Benefits are mediocre, and you have to ask for raises.
Advice to Management
Listen to the employees more often, try to engage with workers and maybe you'll understand what everyone is thinking about the company.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Verdasys (Waltham, MA) in September 2010.
I was picked up by a recruiter and sent over to Verdasys. This is an endurance interview, going from 9-5, consisting of 8 interviewers, each taking an hour. Keep your energy up! The people were quite pleasant and nobody gave the aggressive and patronizing type of interview you run into from time to time. You could tell that a number of the interview questions were real world problems that they were actively trying to solve, instead of the overused "Why are manhole covers round?" variety of questions that wastes everyone's time.
They make everyone the same offer and are big on bonuses. The bonuses are paid quarterly, which is pretty nice.
