Verenium Corporation is a recognized pioneer in the development and commercialization of high-performance enzymes for use in industrial processes. Verenium sells enzymes developed using its unique R&D capabilities to a global market. The company harnesses the power of nature and, leveraging unique, patented technology, creates products that maximize efficiency while improving environmental performance.
Using proprietary and patented genomic technologies, Verenium extracts microbial DNA directly from collected samples to avoid the slow and often impossible task of growing microbes in the lab. We then mine this huge collection of microbial genes, numbering in the billions, using high-throughput screening technologies designed to identify unique enzymes as product candidates. These are then optimized for commercial use through Verenium’s patented DirectEvolution ™ technology. By combining discovery and laboratory evolution technologies, Verenium has successfully developed and commercialized cutting-edge products for use in industrial processes.
