Viator – Why Work For Us?

We want you to feel like you’re traveling with an insider, everywhere you go, every time you travel. That's our main goal here at Viator.

As passionate travelers ourselves, we understand the value of having a trusted resource you can rely on to help you find, research and book the world’s best travel experiences. For over 15 years, Viator has curated the largest and most diverse selection of worldwide tours and activities—from traditional sightseeing tours to unique once-in-a-lifetime experiences—all provided by local tour operators we’ve pre-screened for quality, value and service. Our activities are supported by more than 500,000 verified reviews, photos and videos posted by travelers like you, all backed by our low-price guarantee.

Viator, Inc. sells tours and activities through the award-winning Viator.com website, ten local-language sites serving North and South American, European and Japanese markets, five fully optimized mobile sites and more than 3,000 affiliate sites that include major hotel chains and airlines, online travel agencies, city-specific sites and more. For travelers on the go—the Viator Tours & Activities App for iPhone, iPad, iPod and Android provides quick and easy hand-held access to the most memorable travel experiences, bookable up to the last minute, even in-destination!

Viator is the world’s leading resource for researching, finding and booking tours and travel experiences worldwide.

Our staff of travel insiders has hand-selected the best things to do in more than 1,500 destinations. Working closely with trusted local tour and activity operators, Viator makes it very simple for all travelers to find exactly what they want to do, and, uncover things they didn’t even know they could do. We’ve done the homework, made all the connections, and even pulled a few strings to make sure our customers have unprecedented insider access provided by a global network of trustworthy and reliable local businesses.

And the result? Travelers have direct access to thousands of travel experiences, from basic and traditional sightseeing tours to incredibly exclusive unique finds—and everything in between. From popular double-decker bus tours to private VIP experiences, from adrenaline-pumping outdoor activities to cultural and family-friendly experiences, from shore excursions to show tickets, city passes, day trips, multi-day excursions...you name it, and we probably have it, all hand-selected by the Viator team, all available online or on your phone. That means you can book everything in advance which can help avoid sell-outs in high season and save time in-destination for exploration. Or, if you’re more of a spur-of-the-moment type (or if you are taking advantage of a few spare moments with your mobile device), Viator lets you book up to the last minute as well, with handy apps and an optimized mobile website.

Viator’s global team of employees are passionate travelers and love what they do. We’re always on the lookout for smart and savvy people who’d like to come on board, whether your background is social media, finance, software development, customer service, merchandizing and marketing, sales, copywriting or a number of other fields.

Where do we do our work, you ask? We’ve got offices across three continents in four of the world’s most exciting cities: San Francisco, Las Vegas, London and Sydney. We offer competitive pay packages and benefits, and of course, paid time off so you can travel!

San Francisco

The Viator Headquarters is located in the SoMa district and surrounded by countless restaurants, luxury hotels, the Museum of Modern Art and Yerba Buena Gardens. City hotspots like Union Square, the Embarcadero and AT&T Park (home of the world-champion Giants) are a short walk away.

London

undefinedSitting pretty just off the River Thames, our London office is near Lambeth Bridge and some of London’s popular attractions like the Houses of Parliament and Trafalgar Square. We’re also not far from the London Eye, which we love to ride, especially on our London Eye: Champagne Experience flight.

Sydney

The inner suburb of Surrey Hills houses our Sydney office, as well as a plethora of restaurants, cafes, pubs and Sydney’s latest phenomenon—pop-up bars. Its historical streets and alleyways are lined with heritage buildings and converted warehouses that are home to design firms, marketing agencies and new media companies.

Las Vegas

undefinedOur Las Vegas office sits 15 minutes north of the Strip and is a quick drive from famous sites like the Bellagio, the Stratosphere and the Fremont Street Experience, as well as the new hub of cultural and artistic performance, the Smith Center.

I have been working at Viator full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Fantastic product and ecommerce website. The people I interact with are bright and enthusiastic. Management has a strong sense of where they are leading to and many of them have been with the company for a long time (stable). WIth the recent sale to TripAdvisor there seems to be even more opportunities both internally and with TripAdvisor.

    Cons

The company is growing so quickly, there is sometimes a disconnect between people in different departments. Typical growing pains, I guess.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communicate more across teams and offices. Only one member of your executive team really seems to make the effort to interact and he is not in the office much

    Application Details

I applied online. The process took 6 weeksinterviewed at Viator.

    Interview Details

Met with team members who ranged in attitude from bored to standoffish and rude. From research, and what I heard from some friends of mine who works= there, most of the team and like all leaders of the company have been there for a long time (like, 5-9 YEARS) so it seems very cliquey - perhaps people are just counting their days until the end, since they were recently acquired by TripAdvisor? Still, I was interviewed for a position that was open, so the outlook shouldn't be too bleak, unless leadership really has no idea what they are doing whatsoever? Anyway, I was uncomfortable for most the time and got the feeling that even the director of the team didn't know what she was interviewing me for. I hope it was just an "off" day for the Viator, since we all have those from time to time! Also, the phone calls I had prior to the interview were pretty smooth.

    Interview Questions
    • The most difficult question I was asked was about analytics, but not because II don't have the background. It was just difficult to explain how I would use Viator's tools to measure success since the person who asked the question admitted thet were still trying ot figure that out thsmelves.   Answer Question
