I have been working at Virginia Beach full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great place to learn & grow in your career. Opportunities to move into other positions once you get your foot in the door. Depending on the department you are in there's space for promotions.

    Cons

No real raises & when you do get one it off sets something so it's not really an actual raise. You have to wait for the "old timers" to decide they want to retire before you can move up & depending on budget issues they might not bother to fill the spot & just spread the work out to those left.

    Museum Position Interview

    Application Details

I applied online. The process took 3+ monthsinterviewed at Virginia Beach in June 2014.

    Interview Details

The time it took to get a call for an interview was about 2 months. I was interviewed by several museum department directors. The questions were fairly typical of an interview (describe various work place scenarios, discuss your professional/academic achievements, etc.). It did take some time to hear back about the position (due to interview process taking longer than anyone expected) but they did keep me informed and returned my follow up phone call immediately. Everyone treated me with professional courtesy and made me feel like I would really be able to contribute to the department. I was very impressed!
