I worked at Washington State University full-time (more than 5 years)

The university and academic life was wonderful at times. I felt like I learned a lot working for this college and that it will benefit me later on in life. The hours were good, so you could actually have a life outside of work. The people in the department that I worked for were extremely fun and easy to work with. I made quite a few friends working here that I will always cherish. The pay wasn't great, but it wasn't bad either. I did get a pay increase over time. My supervisor was amazing and fun to work with. I honestly believe that if all bosses saw how she treated her employees, then work would be so much better for a lot of people. Overall I enjoyed my experience and was sad when I left. I would love to work here again.

The town is small, with not a lot to do. It can be hard adjusting to a new town that is small if you are young and single right out of college. Some of the professors and researchers have giant egos and come off as arrogant, but they are only a small percentage and most of the researchers I liked working with felt the same way about them too. The administration could be a nightmare and working with HR was always a pain. They had their own way of doing things, which caused a lot of unnecessary stress at times. Most of the cons of working here only happened once every couple of months and usually it wouldn't bother me.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fix some minor problems with the administration to make things less stressful. Other than that, I wouldn't change a whole lot.
