I have been working at Western & Southern Financial full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Very stable company with a strong history in the community. Working at FWIA will surround you by very intelligent individuals who are always willing to lend a helping hand. CFAs and other designations are looked favorably upon. Free lunch is always a perk, but that will be considered part of your compensation. Great work-life balance as involvement in the community is encouraged. As long as you put in your 40 hours and get your work done, managers are very flexible/accommodating.

    Cons

Be prepared that culture is very ingrained in the work place. If you are looking for a conservative, suit/tie experience, then this is a plus. If that would be new to you, it will take some adjusting. While managers at FWIA generally work hard to promote people into new roles, corporate HR holds the final say and they are not as positive. Raises are generally between 1-5% each yr, whether you knock it out of the park or just continue the status quo. W&S prides themselves on never having layoffs. This is great until you realize they also rarely will let someone go, choosing instead to just leave them in their current position until they finally decide to leave on their own.
