Former Employee - Administration and Support in Plainville, CT

I worked at Wheeler Clinic full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Being part of a team of people dedicated to improving the lives of clients, students and the communities we live in.
    Good health and retirement benefits.

    Cons

Very lean, and resource constrained organization.
Gov't program funding makes it very difficult to be equitable and consistent.
Difficult work, staffing and retention risks, potential burn out.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Clinical and direct care work is important and is the 'true' work of the clinic, but lack of focus on infrastructure, development and equitable practices will leave employees feeling overwhelmed and unsupported.

    Application Details

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks - interviewed at Wheeler Clinic.

    Interview Details

Got a call requesting an interview. Went to the interview and it was bizarre. The director and manager talked amongst themselves 90% of the time. I felt like I was just there to listen to a conversation. I only got asked a few questions. Only lasted 30 minutes.

    Interview Questions
    • None. I got asked if I would be willing to restrain youth, deal with verbal abuse, and why I was interested in working for the clinic and their youth population.   View Answer
