I have been working at WinStar World Casino part-time for more than a year

The best thing about WinStar is the benefits. They are second to none. I have two great bosses in my department. Another great thing is the variety of people who work there. They do not discriminate because of age, so there are people who are in their 80s and people who are in their 20s. There is opportunity for advancement in most departments, too.

The pay scale is rather low. You do get a 40 cent raise every year and a bonus in November if you do all the things required to earn it. Its not really hard to do.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There are a lot of things that could be done to make it a better place to work. The 28 hour part time thing should be the exception rather than the rule. There are people out there that only want to work a few hours, but most folks need more than that to survive.

    Stage Hand Interview

    Application Details

I applied online. The process took a day - interviewed at WinStar World Casino.

    Interview Details

I applied for this job and received a call for an interview about 2 weeks later. The interview was simple. She asked questions about my classes and what I was studying for since I was a full time student at the time. She asked me what I expected from the position and what my role would include. She informed me that the Stage Hand required more than setting up for concerts. Everyone classified as a Stage Hand would be working as a group to set up for every single event held by WinStar. She told me she would work around my school schedule, but if I was called in to work I would be expected to be there, even though she repeatedly told me that being a full time student was acceptable. I was also informed that the position started at $9/hr. I declined the job because I would rather focus on school rather than driving 30 minutes when being called in for an unexpected job during class hours.

    Interview Questions
    • The questions were basic questions about school, classes, degrees, etc. The interview was around 15 minutes and the majority of it was her explaining scenarios of the position and what I should expect.   Answer Question
    Reasons for Declining

The position didn't work with my school schedule. I had full classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays and I was informed that the main days of "setting up" would be those exact days.
