I'm not familiar with XTRA or the trailer leasing business. Can you tell me about the industry?
The transportation business is fast-paced and service-oriented. Changes in supply chains and consumer buying patterns demand that trucking companies and private fleets stay flexible, yet efficient. XTRA Lease serves the supply chain by providing trailers, often on short notice, to meet emerging or seasonal demands. XTRA Lease is a known leader in the transportation sector, offering innovation in technology and equipment.

Will I have to relocate to develop my career at XTRA Lease?
That depends on you and the profession you've chosen. If you start at an entry-level position in a branch, it's possible to advance while staying at the same location. However, if you're in sales or desire an area or senior management position, it may be necessary to relocate. Bottom line: your performance, desires and abilities will determine your career path.
Why should I work for XTRA Lease?
You'll find the traditional benefits such as competitive salary, health benefits and tuition reimbursement. Our nationwide locations and size offer opportunity for growth and advancement. If you enjoy a fast paced environment and freedom to determine your own directions, XTRA Lease could be a good fit for you.

We offer competitive compensation and benefits. Based upon your performance, you'll receive additional challenges and opportunities to succeed. Branch and operations management positions come with bonuses and commissions, in addition to a base salary.
People are the cornerstone of our success. We call it Streetcorner Strategy. Every branch has a team of sales and operations that owns its corner of the market. With leading edge technology tools, these teams have direct impact on branch performance and local brand identity. Branch teams nurture national and local customer relationships, ensure equipment meets safety standards, and respond quickly when customer emergencies happen. All locations are 100% company-owned.
Our branch employees learn about and support a wide range of supply chains and local business. A branch team begins with talented individuals like you – people who are ready to deliver on our reputation with excellent service and responsive problem-solving.
We support our employees with competitive benefits, exposure to a range of opportunities and training programs and a practice of promoting from within. If you have a passion for innovation, and take pride in raising the performance bar, you’ll be rewarded at every level. People at XTRA Lease are hardworking, collaborative and entrepreneurial. I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at XTRA Lease (Irvine, CA).
Brief phone discussion. In-person interview. Rejection. This position is obviously grunt-work. You wear a neon yellow safety vest. Thankfully it is not cold-calling sales. Of course, they attempt to make it sound a little more glamorous than it actually is. They brag about their position in the much-coveted big rig leasing industry with statistics and trivia that a select few are interested in. I don't know why a university degree is required to hop into trucks for damage inspections or to answer phones and read from a script. If you can get it, take it and keep looking for something better. If you meet the unnecessary requirements for this job, you should get a better one at another company.
