YP – Why Work For Us?

undefined

YP is a group of Doers who help local businesses and communities grow which is proven by our Top 40 U.S. web and mobile property and the fact we are used by 70 million unique visitors each month.  Our people are the reason we are a Top 200 private company (Forbes) and the #2 in mobile advertising nationwide (IDC).

Don't take our word for it, here are what a few past and present employees are saying on various review sites:

  • “Lots of talented people to work with and learn from….”
  •  “The work life balance is great”
  •  “Flexible environment and competitive salary/benefits”
  •  “You work with smart people….some of the best you will see”
  •  "Benefits are wonderful, people are super nice and the work environment is awesome"

Plus, did you see the picture above?  We have superpowers!

Every day we imagine new possibilities for connecting local businesses and consumers through the power of Web and mobile and then work together to make our vision reality. Never dull, our workplace culture is driven by creativity, collaboration and questioning the status quo.

Our people make the magic,

Our secret ingredient is our people, so we believe in equipping them for current and future roles and offering compensation and well-being benefits that provide peace of mind for their families.

We also believe in having fun! Our offices each have their own local flavor, from a game room and daily Nerf wars in Los Angeles to rubbing elbows with professional sports teams in Atlanta.

I have been working at YP full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    -Lots to do, never bored.
-Management is very cool about adjusting your hours so you can go to doctors, appointments, etc. You know, since you're human and you have a life. As long as you make your hours and they don't hold you hostage at the office.
-Great people, really friendly teamwork type environment. Assessments based on your own individual work so no one is pitting co-worker against co-worker here.
-Awesome benefits! Really really good compared to what's on the market right now.
-Lots of great employee appreciation events.
-Great little cafe downstairs makes lunch super easy.

    Cons

-It's a corporate job. Expect corporate challenges and corporate fat. Constantly changing processes and policies. Learn to roll with it.
-Vendor software suit limits your ability to do search optimizations, so you have to find a lot of work arounds. This really slows down your optimization speed.
-Not a lot of engaging or stimulating problem solving challenges. Most challenges deal with software limitations or trying to figure out new corporate policies and procedures, rather than interesting mental challenges.
-No work from home for Ops
-The free coffee in the Tucker office is TERRIBLE. (Water tastes chemically, but that's a whole different story)
    -Not much upward mobility
-Too many "coasters." There are a lot of left over ATT staff here who don't seem to want to pull their weight as far as workload and this is super frustrating. You've got enough awesome new yp people and contractors. Get rid of the slackers and make some of these rocking contractors full time employees!
-Not a lot of opportunity for training other than from asking questions to more experienced co-workers. Very much a sink or swim kind of a deal with learning search.
    -Very demanding sales teams.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep improving yp client relationships. Keep the little guys happy and they'll tell their friends. Put more emphasis on actually selling the product and not an idealized version of the product just to make a sale. Keep it real. A

    Interview Details

The interviewing process was great! Manager was straight to the point. It was your basic interview questions. It was 3 interviews and that was one on the phone, with the hiring manager and then with the director. I received an offer 3 weeks afterwards. However, it did take a getting feedback. A lot of us had to call to find out what was going on.
