  • Typical government job

    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee
    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

I worked at Yakima, WA full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

As typical with government jobs, the salary and benefits, including medical and retirement, are good.

    Cons

Typical of government jobs there are those with the 'government employee mentality', "I've gottenthrough my probation period, so no one can fire me" attitude. Not all but many seem to work (or not) with this mindset. If you can put the blinders on and do your job it's a great place to work.

    Application

I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Yakima, WA (Yakima, WA) in May 2010.

    Interview

The interview was very simple and pretty unorganized. I just showed up and filled out some paperwork. After answering some simple questions and proving I was a certified lifeguard, they let me go home. I could tell that the job was going to be very chill should I get it.
