Pierre Omidyar founded eBay on a simple idea: People are basically good.

This fundamental belief created a completely new kind of marketplace, forever transforming ecommerce. Today, this belief continues to drive who we are, how we act, and what we do. Tying us to our roots, our founding principle enables us to make smart decisions that grow our capabilities, our community, our business, and our vision.

The eBay Inc. of today may have grown well beyond its auction house roots, but our founding principles remain the same. We are here to innovate. We are here to build common ground. We are here to make dreams come true. We are here to inspire—new technology, new thinking, new markets, and new customers. And we are here to bring out the best in all the world has to offer. Through trade. Through exchange. Through conversation. Through technology.

This is the place where good, fair, honest business gets done. It’s also the place where online businesses meet the 21st century. If you’re looking to reinvent the future of commerce, eBay Inc. is the place to make it happen.

Every day, eBay Inc.’s 30,000 people synthesize their efforts to power the world’s leading ecommerce company. And every one of them is treated like family.

At eBay Inc., no matter which of our offices, brands, or locations you call home, you’ll discover consistent benefits that are intended to support you—in your work, your life, your passions, and your future. Take a peek at what might await.

Health & Wellness

We want you (and your family) to be healthy! To help you along that road, we offer a wide variety of health benefits. While our offerings vary from country to country, we strive to offer programs that help support you both in mind and body, including quality health insurance, wellness programs, options to reduce your taxable income, and counseling and referral services.

Financial Security

Feeling financially secure during our working years and through retirement is important to all of us. eBay Inc. provides a variety of plans to help ensure your financial security today and in the years ahead.

Other Benefits

eBay’s busy, fast-paced environment makes for an exciting work experience, but it can also make it difficult to balance personal, family, and professional responsibilities. Managing the demands of life inside and outside the office is both a priority and a challenge for many of us. To that end, some of our locations offer onsite perks—things like dry cleaning pick up and delivery and oil changes—that can give you back a little time and peace of mind.

NOTE: While eBay Inc. intends to provide these benefits indefinitely, we reserve the right to change or terminate any or all of the programs at any time subject to any limitations or restrictions of local law. Benefits may vary depending on location.

At eBay Inc., our phenomenal growth and innovative business model have provided some pretty amazing opportunities for our employees.

As we expand our reach, we seek people who appreciate careers with responsibility, complexity, and scope.

Your career at eBay Inc. should be inspiring, satisfying, and engaging. It should motivate you to hone existing skills and develop new ones. That’s why we encourage employees at every level to own their careers and actively pursue that next step. At eBay, that equation has three parts: learning through doing, learning through others, and learning through study.

In support of learning through doing, we outfit you with the tools essential to your role, so that you can perform at your best.

Our collaborative, inclusive environments and commitment to hiring the best and the brightest make every day here a chance to learn through others—simply by working together.

And eBay Inc. supports learning through study by providing a variety of resources ranging from online self-guided courses to external courses and conferences. We also offer career-pathing programs* to members of our technology community who would like to advance their careers without assuming managerial responsibilities. For those who want to pursue a degree, there are rotation and tuition programs.

*Programs may vary depending on location.

Process Improvement Manager Global, Account Management Operations

eBay Inc., Draper, Utah

My road to joining eBay Inc. actually started at my previous employer, where I had the unique opportunity of spending a day with John Donahoe. During this visit, we had a conversation about the ongoing power of eBay. I remember he said specifically, “We will never be in the business of competing with our sellers.” This statement made me realize the power and potential of the eBay brand and the internal strength of eBay and its employees. Two months later, I was working at eBay. Today, I truly consider myself an employee first, a customer second, and a shareholder third. Is it everything I’d hoped it would be? Absolutely. The opportunities and benefits make working at eBay a no-brainer!

Software Engineer—Lead, eBay Technology Operations

eBay Inc., San Jose, CA

In just four months, I am already in a position where my technical and soft skills are valued. I have delivered a critical project and signed up for another important project which will further my growth. I have the freedom to innovate and use new technologies, while working alongside the best team members. Keeping eBay.com live 24/7 with 99.999999% up time and many dynamic changes to applications is very challenging. There are so many opportunities within eBay Inc. The executive team is very energetic, and they want to see the company growth as exponential. This is a place to enjoy rewarding work, and have fun doing it.

Supervisor, Customer Service

eBay, Dreilinden, Germany

As a Customer Service Supervisor, I’m involved in new projects and responsible for operational targets, but I’m also in charge of motivating and supporting my team. If they are able to perform at their best, we are able to reach our targets. It is a very fast business—always changing—and there is no time to get used to processes. But the company culture is very appreciative. eBay Inc. is a company where values are not just written down, they are performed by everybody. I am impressed by how much eBay does for its employees—to keep them healthy, motivated, and challenged. You can’t find a better place.

BSR, Customer Solutions Agent

eBay Inc. Draper, Utah

I love helping our customers. They really do appreciate it, and they express it very openly. We help them improve their business and lives. eBay Inc. is a huge company with many employees, but it’s still a fun place to come to work. Bagel day, free soda, all-hands meetings, dress-up days—I even had the opportunity to go to eBay on Location in Florida to meet some of our members face-to-face. It was awesome! eBay is always changing. You have to accept that and realize you will never know everything—you just have to always be willing to learn.

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks - interviewed at eBay Inc. in August 2014.

    Interview Details

I recently interviewed at eBay Inc and I felt it was a good experience. The hiring process at eBay is seriously slow so be mindful of that. I applied online and about a month later a HR person contacted me via email. I then had a brief phone interview later on that week and it went well. Mostly the conversation was about the position and if it was something that I would be interested in. A week later I was given a date to come in for a interview at the eBay office.

Parking was quite difficult to find as it was really full and also many people didn't seem to know how to park their cars so they took up two spots instead of one.

The Interview itself was okay. I had interviews with 4 different persons and I think that for the HR manager the time should be more than 30 mins. I felt it was too rushed and quite difficult to show case yourself in such a short amount of time. I could tell they wanted to talk to me some more but had to leave because the next person was waiting at the door.

The questions they asked was more about my background, achievements, what my expectations where in the future etc. Nothing complicated or very difficult to answer especially if you have worked on getting prepared for the interview.

After a week I got the generic email that they decided to go with another candidate. I think it came down to what the HR manager wanted in a persons personality.

I was disappointed but well I am glad to have gotten the opportunity to interview with them.
