    Our Culture at kCura

Our culture drives constant product improvement because we're tech and business geeks who love solving problems that move our business forward.

kCura – Why Work For Us?

We have a Midwestern, grassroots, friendly vibe, and we’re all business and technology geeks who really love what we do. We look for new team members who always put our users first, have a passion for building great solutions, love to work hard and play hard, and appreciate a challenge. We in turn provide them with a breadth of internal education programs, the latest technology, and a clear path to success.

Purchased by our founders in kCura’s early days, the green couch in our reception area says it all. Over the years, it has served as a break room, a think tank, and even an intern’s desk. Yet, its most important function remains—a reminder to be humble and stay hungry.

We provide a complete benefits package that reflects a company-wide commitment to supporting our employees’ professional growth and career development. Our benefits package helps our team stay healthy, achieve their goals, and do their jobs well.

Our core values were proposed and written by our team over the course of six months in 2010, with the goal of identifying what characteristics have helped us be successful up to that point—and what will help us continue to be successful.

  • Be an excellent communicator.
  • Exceed the expectations of our customers and your colleagues.
  • Hold yourself and your colleagues accountable.
  • Be humble and stay hungry.
  • Enjoy and be great at your job.
  • Embrace the talents of your colleagues and our clients.
  • Do more with less.

Launched in 2011, kCura Gives is our community outreach program, dedicated to supporting primary and secondary education in Chicago—with a strong emphasis on promoting technology, math, and science among underserved student populations.

We achieve this through two main avenues, One School at a Time and the Geek Grant.

People are smart to work with. They are knowledgeable and have got to something to learn everyday at work. I've personally learned a lot while at kCura.

Sometimes the release period can get hectic.
WFH has a negative vibe to it and is looked down at.

I applied online. The process took 3 weeksinterviewed at kCura (Chicago, IL) in April 2015.

Started with an initial phone conversation, a coding challenge and then half a day of on site interviews. On site consisted of a behavioral section, followed with two technical group conversations and concluded with the recruiter. The technical group conversations involved reviewing some of the code submitted with the challenge problem and then a lot of whiteboarding. Design questions about web platforms were also expected.

    Interview Questions

    • Design and code a Cell class for Conway's game of life on the whiteboard. You are given a Board class that can invoke the Cell's tick method with any parameters you want. Your tick method needs to figure out the new state of the Cell.   Answer Question
