Current Employee – been working at 1105 Media
Pros – Benefits, Co-Workers, Diversity in Projects
Cons – communication, low morale, senior management
Advice to Senior Management – Provide incentive to talented employees in appreciation of their efforts. Glass ceiling is set far too low.

Current Employee – been working at 1105 Media full-time
Pros – I have learned more in this job than at any other position I have ever held. I have been exposed to a variety of trainings that in the past would never have been available to me.
Cons – It seems that the budget is always an issue. Senior management tends to make impossible forecasts for sales for the year, and build a budget around that profit. When the sales aren't as high as they think, the budget is exceeded and it makes the company look like it is doing poorly when if they just set realistic sales expectations, the company would actually be doing much better.
Advice to Senior Management – Appreciate your employees, they are not as easy to replace as you might think.

Pros – Direct managers, co-workers and flexibility make 1105 a great working environment. I can honestly say I enjoy my job. Holiday time off is a definate perk!
Cons – Little recognition (if any) and communication from senior management is lacking. Managers also need to communicate better to their teams. You never really feel like you know what and/or how the company is doing.
Advice to Senior Management – Appreciate and recognize the employees who go "above and beyond" their job for the company. Commuicate - this goes a long way!
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Current Employee – been working at 1105 Media full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – You get lots of autonomy
The benefits are great
The workload is generally manageable if your use your time wisely
Flexible schedule
Telecommuting options
Cons – Somewhat limited opportunities for growth
Not a lot of communication about company strategy
Not great collaboration between business units & central teams
Advice to Senior Management – Develop a 5 year plan and communicate that plan to all employees. Make sure everyone is bought in and moving towards that plan. Make professional development a mandatory part of the culture.

Former Employee – worked at 1105 Media full-time
Pros – Almost to a person, the employees at the middle management level and below are knowledgable, courteous, helpful and patient. Their professionalism is the one and only reason to work for 1105.
Cons – • The company management is incompetent beyond belief, a spectacular train wreck of epic proportions.
• Frequent pointless reorganizations (every year and a half or so) leave employees confused as to responsibilities and expectations.
• Round after round of layoffs has completely drained employee morale.
• Individual employees' contributions are rarely noticed or recognized.
• The company has no use whatsoever for editorial quality control and will not spend a single penny on it.
• There is absolutely zero job security, no matter how hard you work, how competent you are, or how much extra work you take on.
• Compensation is subpar.
• All in all, 1105 is a terrible place to work. Do yourself a favor and stay far, far away.
Advice to Senior Management – Resign. Now.

Pros – In our education group we are doing industry leading custom projects with our clients - It's very impressive. Plus our lead generation capabilities are so well received by our customers and subscribers. I'm very proud of 1105 Media's position in the educational technology community.
This is a very sound enrironment to learn and grow.
Cons – Our work environment is fast paced & exciting - But like so many companies - We can always use more staff to support our growth. We need more good people to achieve our aggressive outcomes.
Advice to Senior Management – I feel very well treated. But in business today we have a responsibility to mentor and train our younger colleagues. Being a good corporate citizen means being ever mindful to this responsibility.

Free soda/popcorn/coffee everyday
Free bagels/muffins Friday mornings
Great vacation package (one whole paid week off for Christmas, and one whole paid week off for Thanksgiving, with additional days for your to choose when to take your time)
Frequent recognition of a job well done
You can constantly learn more about ANYTHING as we are part of Lynda.com's training program
Cons – I think upper level management needs to communicate a bit more with their worker bees - it seems like they are very separate from the rest of the company.
