I have been working at 2 Unique Caterers & Event Planning
Pros – This is a very small company, so many times your ideas can end up being utilized if you can "sell" them to the management successfully.
401K plan with employer matching (if the company has a good year; amount matched per person is at the owner's "discretion").
Staff is willing to train new employees and work with them to improve their skills.
Cons – The owner of the company works between 80-90 hours per week and doesn't understand when employees don't have the same level of commitment; many times the prevalent, unstated attitude was similar to "how dare they wish to have a life outside of work."
Owner of the company has a tendency to micro-manage affairs, overstepping the authority of the management.
The management team (one person, really) has non-existent people skills, and often brings outside troubles into the workplace with her. The result of this is that most of the staff that directly interface with her either are afraid to speak with her or ignore her altogether.
No company-provided healthcare. No sick-days, no paid vacation.
Advice to Senior Management – I would advise the staff to provide training for the management team to help alleviate the lack of interpersonal communication skills. Also, I would recommend that the management team come to realize that differences in philosophy about work habits does not equate with a poor worker.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
