I have been working at 22squared as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Amazing people and agency culture. Everyone is super intelligent and has something to bring to the table.
Agency highly values collaboration amongst all departments.
Even as an intern, lots of hands on experience attending meetings, getting assignments, intern project, etc.
Very diverse portfolio of clients so there's a high chance you'll get to touch a lot of different types of business.

    Cons

None that immediately come to mind.

    Pros

I really loved the people I worked with and created lasting relationships. You work on great brands and there is plenty of opportunity.

    Cons

Like any full-service agency, the creative department runs the show. It's hard to break through to be heard outside of their department. Deadlines are tight and clients are demanding.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Lean forward

I worked at 22squared as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Did not overwork the interns. I felt included in everything and had the opportunity to take lead on several projects. Questions were always easy to ask and everyone was very nice and supportive.

    Cons

It was not paid. Very high turnover... but I guess that is just the industry. Clients are not the most exciting.

Traditional agency struggling with understanding 'digital' in every aspect

I worked at 22squared as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

Good work life balance, cool office space. Friday breakfast and bagels.

    Cons

Management has no idea what it means to be 'digital'. Seen as just banners and landing pages. No ability to move up or around within the organization. Co-workers with little knowledge of digital processes define procedures. Old-school mentality towards advertising permeates, no forward thinking 'digital first' ideas.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Understand that digital is now, not the future, and that advertising is not just TV spots, banners, and landing pages.

    I worked at 22squared full-time

    Pros

    Wonderful people
    Great work environment
    They support innovative attempts

    Cons

Freedom to do your own thing is limited
Responsibility for things you don't have 100% control over
Management;s attempt to grow you as an individual is very limited

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There are people who actually have studied management and how to get the best from people, they should be in leadership positions because they can lead and get the best from people, not because they were good creatives, producers, or account managers.
