Pros
I guess bagel mondays and pizza fridays. The company does not offer much.
Cons
Everything. Bad managment. A CEO that has his head in the sand. Hey Dave, wake up. The company is run like romper room. No communication anywhere. Those quarterly updates are embarassing to attend. Your recruiting team lies. If I knew any better, I would not have joined your company.
Advice to Senior Management
Wake up. Get real and listen to your employees. Train your employees more. I think it's time for Dave to step down and have someone else run the place.
Pros
If you are a company or corporation looking to monetize your website through advertising, then there is probably no better product/service than Open Adstream.
Cons
If you are considering working for this company, then be sure you already have experience in on-line advertising and a detailed understanding of their Open Adstream product. They train their customers better than their employees. What passes for training are ad-hock, poorly organized, poorly documented and hastily delivered presentations, often by those who have no verifiable training background. Management styles and levels of management experience vary widely across the company. On one hand you might be fortunate to have a manager who truly knows how to manage. On the other hand, you may end up caught between two or more managers where you will be micro-managed and massively abused by people who have little management experience, and have no consideration for your credentials or the value of the knowledge and experience that you bring to the table. If you still choose to work here, have your exit strategy ready on day one.
Advice to Senior Management
Invest in quality training at every level for your employees. Harness the knowledge and experience your employees bring to the table, instead of ignoring what they can do, and forcing them to perform in a position for which they have not been trained. Why hire an ironworker to do the work of a seamstress? Train your managers better. A manager that loudly reprimands an employee publicly, in a room full of other employees is no manager at all. When managers are allowed to perform this way, it reflects on the entire company as a whole. When management abuse is brought to the attention of another manager, and nothing is done, this also reflects on the company as a whole. When management fails to train an employee, and a costly incident results, don?t make a patsy of the employee. Had you invested in the required training, the client, the employee and the company as a whole would have been better off.
Pros
Great place to get your start in digital! Then move on. There are some truly great people who work there, but they are drug down by the people who are awful. Senior management is too ingrained in the culture, time to move on...
Cons
Senior management are unsupportive, would rather seem unapproachable than approachable. The fear-mongering, volatile sess-pool that makes up the management team make it a sometimes frightening place to work.
Advice to Senior Management
You've been there long enough. Time to move on to somewhere else. It's not 1995 anymore and you are not nearly as cool as you think you are.
Pros
smart people and an overall understanding for life outside of work. New York Office is a little small, but cozy at times.
Cons
communication between departments could be better. Managment tends to look over your shoulder on several smaller issues. Recent CEO departure has lead to some layoffs.
Advice to Senior Management
none
Pros
Learn a lot very quickly!
Cons
Horrible, hostile environment. Terrible energy and attitudes in the office and most employees are miserable. No raises or bonuses EVER!!
Advice to Senior Management
Share the glory, d-bags.
Pros
The business is doing well and can rise through the ranks quickly
Cons
People are often tired and complain of long hours. Not many people seem happy--a lot of long faces.
Advice to Senior Management
Have more team building off sites to get the morale back again. Because of high growth, people are feeling overworked and it shows.
Pros
growing in a very positive direction
most managers are really committed to company and employees
many opportunities for employees
communication constantly increasing
has become a fun, energetic, exciting place to work
Cons
large salary discrepancies for same/similar positions
hard to promote in satellite offices
sick leave is very minimal and doesn't carry over
Advice to Senior Management
Recommend building internal talent more, both through compensation, but also through opportunities and training programs.
Pros
This is where I started my career and I met many wonderful people from whom I learned a lot. With this particular position their was a fair amount of access and free time to explore and do self directed learning.
Cons
Having a bit of distance between my experience there and now, I found that the managers were not particularly helpful in providing a direction or feedback. Most of my division was fired, and I was kept on with other colleagues and the decision seemed to be purely economical. We were cheap "asset" so we were granted a reprieved for about six months. During this time my new management rewarded me small recognition for the work that I took up from my more experienced laid off colleagues but still laid me off three months later.
Advice to Senior Management
The CEO of the company has changed since I was there, and it was my observation when I left if the management continued the way that it did that the company would fail in short order. However, it's still around even through a second recession so I'd take it as a possible indication that the new management team is more competent.
