I have been working at 24 Hour Fitness part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Perks of having this job is the free membership. Super sports are around 55 bucks a month so working here saves quite a bit of money.

    Cons

If youre going to be a membership counselor, be prepared to be on the phones calling referrals for most of the time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ive seen way too many club managers neglect their clubs. Just because youre a club manager, doesnt mean you can sit in your office and relax.

I have been working at 24 Hour Fitness as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

Free membership, compensation for CEU's and continuous learning

    Cons

Group X is an absolute joke. There is one manager for the entire region, and that is insufficient to say the least.
Lack of communication or follow through.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get more group X managers, because there are MANY instructors in this region (at least 400) and one manager to 400 people, with 20+ clubs in a 50 mile radius is unacceptable. You will lose the good quality people that you have left.
COMMUNICATE with the team-- including the GroupX fitness instructors. Lack of communication is LETHAL.

I have been working at 24 Hour Fitness full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

fun environment, free membership, can work off hours if thats what you want. If you are a fitness professional you can get good experience.

    Cons

Pay is terrible, even managers and dept heads have to work late and on weekends. Sales, Sales, Sales. Mostly there is no way to make any real money no matter how good you perform.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to the people in the field and the challenges they feel and see. Pay your membership people a living wage, since they are keeping your lights on.

I have been working at 24 Hour Fitness full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Awesome environment, great co-workers, free gym membership. It has a really fun atmosphere and it is pretty laid back as long as you do your job.

    Cons

Terrible benefits, terrible pay. If you want a career, this IS NOT the place. The company does not take care of their employees. I literally had a RVP tell me that everyone is dispensable. It is near impossible to get promoted unless you are willing to move to a different state.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get managers that know how to manage and not just people who know how to sell.

    Cons

frequent change in management, superiors are fired often producing a sense of fear that trickles down.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Perform well and you will do fine. This isn't a clock in clock out 40hrs per week type job.

I worked at 24 Hour Fitness part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The saving grace about my experience at 24 was the free gym membership. Also the PTs were really kind and would work out with you or train you for free. (It gives them some floor time between sessions to flex without looking like a gym troll)

It's a great job for someone in college looking for part time work between classes. Or a stay at home parent with a few extra hours to spare.

    Cons

The pay was awful. When you received a raise it was in .50$ not even a dollar. I experienced working New Year's Day (4:45am), weekends and weird hours that constantly changed. Drastic hour cuts with no rhyme or reason. For the first six months of my employment, I worked 40 hours a week then the last part 4-11 hours per week.

There was no room for growth.

Customer Service Representatives dealt with a lot of dirty work that other departments felt too good to do. There was even an incentive to share gloves with other team members when doing locker room checks to save money!
