I worked at 24 Hour Fitness

    Pros

    Be in a gym environment

    Cons

Terrible pay, way to many people getting hired and leaving. Nobody stays with the company for more than a year or two. Upper management pay isnt worht the time it takes to get there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay your employee's properly, and their work ethic will get much better.

I worked at 24 Hour Fitness full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Working in Fitness is a wonderful thing, you will meet many amazing people! Additionally at 24 Hour Fitness you will gain a great deal of industry knowledge and access to fitness related data!

    Cons

The company culture became horrific the past few years I was there. A number of middle managers were put in place whom definitely were not living by the company values and gradually destroyed a great work environment as they put statistic in front of their employees, members, and even above average performance results. They did not manage behavior they simply managed stats that sadly they could not clearly explain or better yet even understand as it related to the business that they were managing- aka they had no clue what they were talking about and only cared about making bonus and or protecting their jobs. If you truly want to understand the work environment simply look at their employee turn over. In short they would talk about company values then do the opposite from my humble perspective and experiences.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Follow your company values and make better decisions as it relates to middle management, it was not a "great place to work" and they were not "doing the right thing"

I worked at 24 Hour Fitness full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Free membership. You make all kinds of friends with members and employees.

    Cons

The pay is just BAD. I was a membership manager and I didn't get paid enough. Every time I clocked in, I had my boss threatening my job. They expected my sales team to over deliver on monthly goals with a gym that is 40 monthly and like 30 years old. Old equipment and old building.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sales needs more pay. I know my team would be more motivated with a commission based pay or at least a hire hourly pay.

I worked at 24 Hour Fitness part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Most members were very nice and took the time to try and get to know you. Free membership to all 24's and discounted personal training. They really like to promote from with in.

    Cons

Since they like to promote from with in there is a lot of turn over in management. Some managers are great and others barely hit par. Club managers have a tendency to get away with things they shouldn't be doing because they are on salary and the company can't keep track of their hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take care of your employees and they will last a long time. Do your job and be an example of a great leader. If your employees see you working hard they will work hard.

    Pros

I love the atmosphere in a gym setting, a lot of positive people to work with and to help.

    Cons

It can be tough work if you're on the negative side. The name of the game is consistency; if you have it, great. if not, good luck.
