Advice to Senior Management
Delegate more
Pros
Salary, benefits, and products for mid market + k-12
Cons
Management. They are complete buffoons from regional management up to and especially the Chairman of the Board
Advice to Senior Management
HP will help, but they are known to pay well below the industry average
Pros
- good work and life balance
- family-friendly
- nice working environment in regards to colleagues
- good salary and benefits
Cons
- constant restructuring made processes unreliable
- career progression very difficult
- technical training not easily available and sometimes not suitable for internal staff
- lack of resources to fully support customers
Advice to Senior Management
- should not have sold out
- communication with development made very difficult because of culture differences
- sad to see the company disappear
Pros
Compensation was very good and work-life balance was excellent. People enjoyed working there. Attitude was work together to turn company around, which happened.
Cons
Commute was long for many as Marlborough is in the Middle-west part of the state. Uncertainty about the company's future as acquision was always a possibility. It finally happened.
Advice to Senior Management
The leadership is now all gone. Can't really offer them any advice. Bob Mao did a very good job during his tenure.
Pros
Great Technology and good life / work environment.
Cons
Sales poor, no sign of improvement
Advice to Senior Management
Management needs to figure out where the companies core competency lies and then communicate that to the employees and customers.
Pros
The 3Com division, H3C, gave 3Com a new life and an edge to data center set of solutions to truly compete with Cisco from a technology, price and energy efficiency perspective. The company is celebrating its 30th anniversary, but internally, it feels like a start-up again. The company lacks an effective marketing machine though, so the story was rarely reported... until HP's announcement of their intent to acquire 3Com.
Cons
It's about to be acquired by the 320,000 employee company HP, and there don't appear to be many (any?) positives reviews about HP within glassdoor.com.
Advice to Senior Management
Congratulations for rebuilding 3Com, and thank you for the respect that you treat your employees with. I don't know if it will be possible, but I hope that you can maintain some semblance of our culture after the acquisition has been completed.
Pros
interesting technology. start up atmosphere, company is moving forward
Cons
long hours, constant change in direction of company.
Advice to Senior Management

Pros
Culture within 3Com is great, information sharing and all working towards a common goal
Cons
Over the years jobs cuts have impacted the opportunities for career progression
Advice to Senior Management
Keep on driving us in the right direction
