    I worked at 3dcart full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Used to be a "Micro-manager" free zone because everyone employed were self starters and very good at doing their jobs.

    Cons

The quality of qualified employees deteriorated, mediocre raises, 90% of the managers were not qualified and no room for growth within the company (Glass Ceiling).

    Advice to Management

Get qualified, educated and experience managers. Management is 70% people skills and 30% administrative. Employees can not come to work in fear of their jobs and produce. Also stop placing your friends in management positions if they are not qualified.

    Neutral Outlook

I worked at 3dcart (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Working with people who liked to learn and teach at the same time. Originated as a startup business, in a small office with five employees. Video game fanatics. Free double espressos.

    Cons

Growing at a fast pace and needs to adjust a bit. If they allow a new collaborative structure and version control managed by qualified designers and developers, it will be a formidable competitor in the eCommerce industry.

    Advice to Management

The key to improvement is to recognize your faults and fix them. Don't be afraid to take the advice from people who care. Sometimes "weird" becomes "wonderful".

    I worked at 3dcart full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The product is very solid and easy to use. Given the software choices available today for ecommerce customers, 3dcart is a hidden gem. Support is good.

    Cons

The culture at 3dcart is one of incompetence and paranoia. Any visitor walking through this office will see employees that look depressed, staring at the floor, afraid to contribute. Any idea they bring to upper management will immediately be dismissed as "that won't work" and a few days later, the idea will be implemented via the CEO as his original idea. Chances are, the idea won't work and a few days after that, management will say, "so and so suggested this idea, we knew it wouldn't work, but figured we'd try it anyway". If the idea works, management will walk around and say, "what a great idea, our CEO is so smart". So nobody contributes, you either get no recognition, or humiliated. Once you work at 3dcart for a few months, you realize that any good idea comes from the CEO, everyone else is stupid. Design services are punishment for 3dcart customers. Sales people are expected to sell design services and you know that every design you sell is going to result in torture for the customer. It's impossible to set expectations, because if you set expectations properly, you wouldn't be able to sell anything. Customers come back to you and complain that design won't give them a website that works and you get blamed for the incompetence of the design department. You are expected to sell hosting and you are given leads to call that are 95% garbage. Fake email addresses, fake phone numbers and more fake everything. You pick through this pile of garbage with the hopes of finding one or two valid leads. Then you are told that you suck on a continual basis because you can't sell a website to a person from Indonesia with a fake online profile.

    Advice to Management

Give up completely on services. You have no idea how to deliver services. The services are so poor that anyone with a conscience cannot sell them. Do you not realize that the reason Shopify and Big Commerce are growing so fast is because they have outside companies doing their services? Look at the websites that customers have on Shopify and Big Commerce. 3dcart can not compete with them.
