I have been working at 7-Eleven

    Pros

working day to day providing excellent customer service. Completing computer and hands on training to move up in company. Field consultants very helpful in getting you to advance to management if that is what you are looking for. Pay increases after every certification of training. Learned to write orders and inventory as well as category manager. Co workers and management are like a family and we have fun working together and customers can see we love our job.

    Cons

people frequently call in or quit at the last minute and you are constantly running around the store.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    I worked at 7-Eleven

    Pros

What I liked about working here best was the personal relationships I built with the regular customers. Even after I resigned, I still see certain people out and they always ask how I am and say how much they miss me.

    Cons

rude customers, and the dangers of working the overnight shift

    Pros

Easy job, you get to know a lot of people and you get free food on the shift.

    Cons

Customers are awful, sometimes you are stretched out too much and you will be by yourself at times & it's hard.

    Pros

Very laid back once you finish all tasks early as long as it's not a holiday.
Customers pretty chillaxed and faded at night.

    Cons

When food deliveries come late you have to work pretty fast to get all the food out for the morning rush.
Pays minimum wage for having to do so much in so little time.

    I worked at 7-Eleven

    Pros

Great message.. "Servant Leadership" working with business owners as well as corporate stores

    Cons

it's not what you know but who you know. I saw many great people passes for promotions because they did their job with integrity and did not just kiss up, but those that kiss up and just tow the line where the ones that got the opportunities/promotions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Teach the message to all new Market Managers and promote from within (the servant leader message is lost)

    I worked at 7-Eleven full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Good compensation, company car, decent benefits, learn new things

    Cons

Culture, incompetent management, favoritism, to many meetings about nothing, 5 managers in 5 years, 10 senior management changes in 5 years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't run your real estate department like its a store. IE: your operations centric, Westpoint Graduate management style for boosting slurpee sales does not translate well into more complicated endeavors like opening and managing stores. Hire good people and let them do their job, don't promote good Slurpee salesman into real estate. Don't expect real estate conditions in one metro area to be like those of another area.

  11. Great Brand - 86 years of Success

Former Employee - Franchisee in Denver, CO
Former Employee - Franchisee in Denver, CO

    I worked at 7-Eleven full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Leaders in technology, packaging and distribution. Transitioning to a very strong emphasis on Fresh Food ... reinventing themselves and making good headway in offering more healthy options across the board.

    Cons

It's a business for driven and bold individuals. It's a business of high volume and low margins ..... need to stay on top of things and employ trusted employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find a way to better incentivize franchisees that do an excellent job with customer service, operations and cleanliness. These efforts require more labor & payroll taxes, etc ...... but customer service, friendliness and cleanliness make or break the brand!!
