    Pros

Company prefers to promote from within. Sets up different programs to help full-time and part-time employees, such as helping pay for college classes (for full-time employees), and the ability to apply for grants to help with medical bills, family funeral expenses, or unforseen natural disasters (for both full/part-time employees). Puts a lot of emphasis on volunteer work and values. Most people I have met from corporate are incredibly nice and down-to-earth, most of all the CEO. The higher up you go, the better the quality of life is, but you must be willing to work hard for it. They are changing rapidly to become a more "fashion focused" company, and the clothes are actually really cute. You are not required to wear their clothes or buy their product on a regular basis, but more and more I find myself wanting to. The discount off clothing is very good, and you get your discount in addition to the current sale.

    Cons

Very fast-paced environment, sometimes chaotically so. Many different corporate branches trickling down things to do at once, yet there is a lot of pressure to stop tasking once the store is open to concentrate on customer service, yet given the vast amount of tasks given or necessary (i.e. filling the sales floor), this is impossible. Can be a very hectic work environment, which only increases in higher volume stores. Company is trying to change their image as fast as possible, which is little by little working, but it only adds to the craziness. If you get used to this company, you will be bored anywhere else.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better communication between different branches of corporate needed.

    Pros

Always a challenge and constant thought provoking re-merchandising, great benefits, great company culture and values, stellar employee discount.

    Cons

Workload far exceeds what can be completed on company time. Pay is in lower bracket of retail in regards to management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Follow trends and execute changes in trends more rapidly. Constantly analyze your market, and clearly identify what that market is and what it wants.

    Pros

Great pay, fun company, great bosses, great product, learning environment, room for advancement

    Cons

Hiring goals are tough during holiday, only because you pretty much only need then for black Friday

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to keep SMs from leaving I left twice to see if the grass was greener at a different retailer....there's nothing like culture.

    Pros

Co-workers are really nice and managers are very encouraging. They all care about the company and more importantly, they care about you.

    Cons

Really long closing shifts. It would take my team about 3-4 hours just to close up shop. Good hours though!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Very good company values! All my former managers cared a lot about the store's customers and even more about their employees.

Current Employee - Assistant Store Manager

    Pros

Somewhat decent pay, benefits. Good vacation and sick time (but way too many rules about using it).

    Cons

Emotionally abusive job. District and store management are buddy-buddy, play favorites, and ensure lack of a team environment. Was promised a major promotion, but denied when the company started doing very poorly. Now, they're basically pushing me out the door, citing my unhappiness - ya think? Don't ever, ever work here. At one point, the emotional abuse was so horrible, I tried to kill myself.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Train your employees well enough they can leave, but treat them well enough that they stay. Emotional abuse is absolutely unacceptable. Don't take away 401k matching and raises, but still insist on things like PIP, etc.

    Pros

Great work environment, most people are friendly, lots of activities to foster a positive work culture

    Cons

extremely difficult to move up, especially to a new department. HR very vague when asked about why it is so difficult to move, seems like because people are very catty and the higher ups just want the same 10 people around.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

be more open to people you are not as familiar with.

Former Employee - Sales Associate/Cashier in Wilkes-Barre, PA

    Pros

The store offers an employee discount and it is an easy job to learn and grow accustom to pretty quickly.

    Cons

There seems to be a very quick turnover not only in sales associates, however in store managers as well. The particular store I worked for was pretty unorganized.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Leadership should be improved.
