Good experience, good insight into retail industry

Intern (Former Employee)
Hong Kong (Hong Kong)

I worked at A.S. Watson as an intern for less than a year

ProsThey try to give you as much hands on experience when they can and as a result some of the tasks are very useful for developing time management and organizational skills

ConsThe culture at HQ offices is very different from their other offices, much less interaction and intense. As an intern you are often not given much to do.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

A good International organisation

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at A.S. Watson full-time for more than 3 years

ProsStrong international exposure with significant expansion in Asia and a strong foothold in the European health and beauty markets

ConsLimited career progression and established training development opportunities. Structure and culture is heirarchial at times which can lead to a lack of vital information being passed up the chain towards senior management.

Fair company to work for, but growth limited.

I have been working at A.S. Watson

ProsFor local managed MNC, this is probably one of the most diverse company to work for. The company do enjoy phenomenal growth in Asia and other development country- great place to learn how to run retail in emerging markets.

ConsCreativity is not valued - discipline is. Very efficient operator but lacks way behind in innovation.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe company needs to innovate to survive - operation effectiveness is not the only answer.
