I worked at A&E Networks as a contractor

    Pros

Good pay, varied projects and reasonable hours. Veteran staff knows what they are doing and the majority are very open to helping guide those new to the company. Most groups are very friendly and there is an air of camaraderie. If you have never worked on a particular type of project before but want the opportunity to take a stab at it, most senior managers will welcome you giving it a try.

    Cons

Going through a restructuring process that has cut staff and shifted many people around. Many people still don't know what is going to happen to their position and place in the company. IT is very slow and can takes weeks to fix minor problems and need to be hounded to fix big ones. This slows down your workflow to say the least. Freelance is through an outside agency so their are HR concerns.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Trust your internal talent pool more and spend less money and time on outside agencies. IT needs to be more on top of problems and creating real solutions. IT was very frustrating.

I worked at A&E Networks as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

For the most part the people are nice and sociable and most are willing to be helpful and informative.

    Cons

First of all, when more than half of your IT department are consultants (the only permanent employees are all management..go figure) and you treat the consultants like disposable resources when in fact the consultants own the most knowledge about the environment - you don't have a great situation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This place needs a performance audit from outside. Most of the dead & stagnant weight comes from long-time staffers within.

Current Employee - Intern in Los Angeles, CA

I have been working at A&E Networks as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

The internship program is awesome in a way that you get to interact with all departments in the office because of the various weekly department lunches. Also, they value the interns input, perspective, and opinion a lot and encourage a lot of discussion with the interns to impact their business.

The company culture is also great - all departments are very welcoming and you can see the employees are generally happy.

    Cons

There seems to be sometimes a misconnection with the headquarters in NY in terms of decision making and everyday responsibilities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Integrate both the LA and NY office in a more cohesive management.

    Positive Outlook
    Approves of CEO
