    I worked at A4e full-time

    Pros

a chance to help people, colleagues are generally young and dynamic, usually nice offices

    Cons

chasing the money means that work often goes ahead before it has been planned properly, head office makes a lot of looking after employees and business ethics but they are out of touch with outlying services, although it looks as though you get promoted through applying, getting to know the right people does matter

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

visit outlying services more often and really listen to staff

    I worked at A4e full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

During the years I worked for A4e, I made lovely friends, met some great learners and every day was different. We were praised and rewarded for our achievements. Health and Safety was ultra important as was Equality and Diversity. A4e stretches the mind, offers opportunity for those with 'can do' mentality and fulfills many ambitions and dreams.

    Cons

Challenges - never met any of those. If you are in it for the love of it, winning is a natural course. I have a port folio of qualifications many sponsored and encouraged by A4e. Appraisals were always about progression for the consecutive year. With a little forethought and imagination there is always something more to do which complements the work to be done. Further more I have some lovely cards and dinky gifts from the people's lives I improved.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be brave and don't allow yourselves to be maneuvered off track.

    -Friendly Staff
    -Good Hours
    -Convenient location

    Cons

    -No Career Development
    -Manager Never Around
    -Bad Payscale
    -No organisation

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be truthful about what working for a4e will entail during the interview, I was told that the career prospects would be endless but I see no room for growth. I'd also try to care more about your employees, delegate work with realistic timescales.

    Pros

The laid back approach and lovely people who work for the company

    Cons

there is a lack of communication all around the company which leads to allsorts of problems, plus there is no organisational skills.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communicate more with your staff and actually take an interest in your staff

I worked at A4e full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

They employ a variety of staff from different backgrounds to create diverse and exciting teams. Being a quango contract they have breathing space with the contracts they run, giving customers something different to direct working with i.e: Job Centre Plus. Laid back and personal and many ways.

    Cons

Careless with training which is surprising for a training and development company. Insufficient support for new staff.
More interested in company reputation than staff welfare.
Pay is negotiable but often based on what they can away with giving people, and not directly related to experience and performance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ask your staff for feedback and what does and doesn't work about your company and what there is to work on. Simple!

A(4e) company to move forward with!

    I worked at A4e

    Pros

A4e ensure that their employees are heard and looked after, ensuring that they are adequately trained and skilled up for the job they are in. Great relocation possibilities.

    Cons

Big autonomous responsibilities are handed/entrusted to employees at times. Not everybody is capable of managing that, especially when dealing with the public and people, which is already a heavily-regulated work 'industry'.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Perhaps a little more support needed for middle-management ?

    I worked at A4e full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Working for A4e was one to the best Jobs I have every had. Knowing you have made a difference to someones life by helping them find a job that is going to support them, giving them the independence to break away from the benefits systems and the satisfaction of hearing the small words "thank you " Amazing Management team in East Anglia, fantastic team of brilliant people trying to help others

    Cons

Some people do not want to give up the life they have on benefits and used A4e as an excuse, would not accept help, turned down work despite being better off and refused to partake in training. People blaming others and finding excuses at every opportunity. Being threatened by clients
