Pros
Might be good commute-wise for some.
Cons
Asinine, useless management. Constant musical chairs.
Advice to Senior Management
If AAA has any success, it's despite it's management
Pros
The people at AAA, CSAA, ACA, The insurance Exchange, the Club - whatever their name is today, are among the best in the world.
Cons
Dysfuctional leadership. Top heavy and stagnated leadership. Way too many in effective CEO's. Massive waste. Lack of ability to focus. Constant re-orgs with poor outcome. Poorly designed and executed products, systems and work flows.
Advice to Senior Management
Members own this club. Sadly they will have to be the force of change to repair the damage. Lets just hope there is something left to save once all the damage is done.
Pros
Salary and Benefits is good.
Opportunities abound for the right skills.
Cons
Lack of organic growth forces repeated layoffs and changes in strategy and direction.
Advice to Senior Management
See cons. There is so much potential in the organization and the market but failure to appreciate the broad market forces until its too late to adjust. Think maps, travel agency, web page functionality, iApps. Insurance revenue drives the organization and is at risk - there are lots of other insurance companies out there, the brand has to renew its relevance to maintain relevance.
Pros
They have a nice new office building with easy freeway access and parking. The operations employees really care about the members. The pay is OK
Cons
The insurance exec management team is disfuntional. They have churned out some great talent and now are have brought in some technically sound execs, but completely disconnected from the brand and lacking in people and leadership skills. Lots of politics and endless reorganizations has put people ill at ease and they are generally are not happy here, but it's a pay check. I rate it low because the work culture is such a huge disconnect from the brand- its a shame. Vision and values got ISP'd.
Advice to Senior Management
Need to create a supportive high performing and safe environment
Pros
Predictable work flow, decent hourly rate
Cons
Poor communication from senior management about changes in business
Advice to Senior Management
Some some respect for your workers, and stop taking advantage of our not having other options
Pros
The cafeteria is really wonderful.
Cons
1) Promotions are based on favoritism, not qualifications. 2) There are so many highly paid individuals managing and analyzing everything that there are not enough front line employees to handle the customers calling in for member services. 3) No respect or compassion for employees. 4) Unfair hiring and firing practices. 5) Department supervisors are not required to know anything about the job tasks their teams perform; their primary purpose is to run statistic reports for upper management and hone their micromanagment skills.
Pros
work life balance, 401K match and pension
Cons
too many reorganizations - employees under stess about job security - two headquarter moves in less than two years
Advice to Senior Management
Be truthful with the employess - stop the reorgs and bring back vision and values
Pros
Benefits and employees are great. They have, and soon to be had, a great insurance product.
Cons
Not knowing how the industry really works. People who go to AAA want an insurance agent, not a 1-800 number. Almost impossible to make it as a new agent unless you live at home with your parents and have no dependents. Compensation plan is not realistic for how the company is setup.
Advice to Senior Management
Either be a direct sales insurer, or agent based. You cannot have both. Stop with all the ridiculous gift card gimmicks and let the agents market them selves. Unfortunately the AAA name doesnt sell itself anymore with how tarnished it has become in the last few years.
Pros
Opportunity to earn unlimited income
Cons
Very hard for new agents to survive earning almost a minimum wage
Advice to Senior Management
stop using your agents
Pros
Good salary
Great benefits
Good brand recognition
Supportive managers
Great network of co-workers across the company
Heart of those in the trenches
Much better senior leadership than in past years
Members First focus
Cons
Constant change above normal corporate average even in this economy
Unclear direction particularly with the split
Lofty sales goals especially with rates and so many changes
Concerns about new AM and Fireline negatively affecting ability to meet goals in most areas
Too few employees to adequately support sales people
Overworked employees fear negatively impacting Members First due to burnout
Advice to Senior Management
Go back to being really good at what we do so we can embrace a new and innovative future. We have reinvented the wheel so much, we have forgotten how well the wheel can actually roll.
